The Raíces Gala

The Annual Raíces Gala raises vital funds to support the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture’s role as a cultural anchor in the City of Chicago. As part of the Annual Raíces Gala, NMPRAC honors distinguished artists with the prestigious Ceiba Award, the only national award granted to Puerto Ricans for their artistic and cultural accomplishments and contributions. Over the years, the museum has honored the likes of international superstar Ricky Martin, songwriter and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, acclaimed actress Rita Moreno, and journalist David Begnaud. Each year, the gala features live entertainment that showcases Puerto Rican artistic talent, ranging from a musical number from In The Heights to a youth bomba performance, full salsa/latin jazz band sets, and other musical acts that demonstrate Puerto Rico’s rich musical traditions.
